Call of Duty Modern Warfare – Promising Release?

by Vslayer

I haven’t been this excited for a Call of Duty game since Black Ops 2!

Now I know the name of the latest installment of Call of Duty is meme-worthy, but we’re not going to linger on the fact that it’s basically the same name as one of their previous games; the 4th one, to be more precise. What I’ve seen so far of the single-player and multiplayer gameplay made me pre-order this game.

I think that for a lot of CoD fans, this is the game they’ve been waiting for. No jet packs, no robots, no wall running, no space maps — just modern warfare. Okay, now I get why they went with that name.

Not only a throwback to the franchise’s biggest success, but it’s also quite literally telling us WHAT exactly the game is going to be like. It’s already setting high expectations, and I have a feeling it’s only going to get better.

I haven’t been able to get my hands on the game, but rest assured that I will give my first impressions of the beta that is going live on September 12. I’ve watched a lot of gameplay videos from people who were lucky enough to get early access, and I have to say I’m impressed.

Best CoD since MW2?

The game will NOT have a season pass model. All the extra content such as maps will be completely free. If that alone doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will.

Modern Warfare will also have cross-platform support, although I’m not sure that’s a total win. As a console player, I don’t exactly want to encounter PC players in the game’s multiplayer modes since aiming with a mouse and keyboard is way easier than with two over-sensitive joysticks.

The story mode is back for this installment, and is utilizing RPG elements by rewarding your deeds on a moral-choice based model. You’ll have to determine whether an NPC is a friend or foe, and, you’ll also have to worry about collateral damage. The more civilians you injure or kill, the lower your score will be.

The most important detail concerning the story mode is the fact that we’re getting our beloved Captain Price back. That is enough to make anyone return to the series after a long hiatus.

The game will not have a zombie mode, but a tactical co-op mode like we saw in Modern Warfare 2. Although I will miss shooting zombies in the face and running around in circles, I believe this will be just as fun and exciting.

What about the gameplay?

I know y’all are like me and dying to know what the game feels like, how different it is and what they changed. Everything. They changed everything, and for the better.

The sounds in the game ranging from the ringing in your ears if you were too close to a flashbang upon detonation, reloading your weapon, running, breathing and shooting all closely resemble what you would experience in a real-life combat situation, and overall add to the feeling of immersion when playing.

It looks and feels more like a Battlefield game, which is not at all a bad thing. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and if they were able to take realistic aspects of their direct competitor and adapt it for their game, I’m all for it.

The aspect of gameplay that has me the most excited, however, is the fact that you can reload while aiming and lean from left to right, like in tactical games such as Rainbow Six Siege.

This is what a lot of us has been waiting for, and perhaps how we’ve wanted Call of Duty to evolve into over the years. Unfortunately, the past two games disappointed greatly in that aspect and I’m thrilled to see that they really changed things for the better this time around.

Pre-order bonuses and Dark Edition

200$ will get you actual working night vision goggles!

I actually usually always advise people in not pre-ordering, but the fact that the game got a big overhaul and is not making us pay for content that should be in the game to begin with, I can safely say that this is one you should pre-order. I would also suggest you get the regular edition because all the more expensive ones just have in-game items and costumes that personally, don’t really appeal to me.
